I did a variation of this recipe:

without the cabbage, cilantro and okra and
with kale, mushrooms, zucchini, red pepper
and added app. 3 tbsp ground ginger and 2 tbsp cumin (or maybe coriander I get them mixed up)

This is the second time I've made a sweet potato stew and both times its turned out great.
